The meaning of the Sanskrit word vira stands for hero, courageous, brave, successful man, or warrior. It is usually as pronounced as veer-ah-sa-na. Like Padmasana – The Lotus Posture , Vira Asana is also an option of sitting pose for meditaion and Pranayam .

Steps for Vira Asana /The Hero Pose

  1. Firstly kneeling down on the floor such that tops of the feet is flat on the base/floor and the thighs touching.
  2. As holding back the knees unitedly,tardily and slowly outspread your feet, approximately shoulder space separate. Keep your buttocks flat on the floor. and The soles of your feet must be exposed facing upward and the external sides of the second joint(thigh) must touch the interior sides of the calves. Keep the palm of your hands facing downward, on the knees and make a shape of circle with your thumb and index finger and remaining fingers pointing straight forward.
  3. Respire easily, slowly and profoundly through the nostrils and stay on non-moving upto 6 accomplished breaths (an breathe in and breathe out process is one accomplished breath).
  4. Breathe in tardily and then try to stretch your arms straightaway up all over your head, pushed in up ward direction by interlocking the fingers of your palm and hold the pose for six accomplished breaths.
  5. Breathe out tardily, free the fingers and tardily bow ahead at the waistline whilst positioning the palms of your hands fixed on the soles of the feet. Point the chin between the knees.
  6. Arrest this pose for the length of 6 accomplished breaths.breathe in, arouse the thorax upwards, stretch out the legs direct forward and set the hands, palms downward, on top of the second joint(thigh).
